Not only are blinds and shutters attractive but they also serve a number of practical purposes. Along with allowing you to control the light in your home and providing insulation against the weather, they are also essential for maintaining your privacy. Despite all of their benefits, however, they do have one major downside they are a bit of a nightmare to clean. Trying to get dust and dirt out from between all of the individual slats can be extremely challenging especially if you don’t have the right tools. The good news is, there are ways to make the cleaning process easier. The next time you need to clean your blinds or shutters, try using these tips from Affordable Blinds & Shutters: Dust your blinds every time you clean. Cleaning your blinds more frequently will help keep dirt from adhering to the surface, making them much easier to dust. If you stay on top of it, it will only add a few extra minutes to your cleaning routine and will help keep your house feeling extra fresh and clean. Make dusting easier by closing your blinds. Ideally, the slats of your blinds or shutters should be as flat as possible when you dust them. Closing your blinds exposes more surface area on each of the slats, allowing you to dust them more thoroughly. Work from the top down. As you dust, any dirt that is loosened will fall onto the lower slats. Starting at the top helps ensure that you don’t undo all of your hard work by knocking the dust down onto slats that you have already cleaned. Use a feather duster. The feathers on a feather duster have an easier time getting in between the slats of the blind, allowing you to dust them more thoroughly. Move the feather duster horizontally across each slat, working it in between the slats and around the cords to thoroughly dust each area. Wipe down the blinds after dusting them. Use a dry microfiber cloth to pick up any remaining dust by gently wiping it over the surface of the blinds. Periodically wash your blinds or shutters to remove stuck-on dirt. Take them down and place them in your bathtub. Cover them with water and gently scrub them to remove any dirt that can’t be dusted away. Hang them outside to thoroughly dry. Cleaning blinds and shutters can be a real hassle. To make it as easy as possible on yourself, try to dust your blinds every time you clean. Investing in the right tools like a feather duster and a microfiber cloth can also help make the process easier. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Affordable Blinds and Shutters | Address: Unit 5/492 Scottsdale Dr Varsity Lakes QLD 4227 | Phones: (07) 5520 6362 | 0490 116 575 | 0490 016 198 | Email: [email protected] | Website: http://affordableblindsandshutters.com.au
