Hybrid DVR – The Problem Solver |
Posted: October 13, 2014 |
How many times have you purchased something and 2-3 years later, it’s outdated and within 8-10 years, you can’t even find compatible parts? If you’re a small business owner and installed video cameras in your shop or store more than 8-years ago, you probably have the older type of cameras that are not designed to let you see what is happening in your store while you go watch your family in one of the racing events. You’ve probably tinkered around the internet looking at the latest security cameras available, pricing them out to see if you can afford as many as you really need to update your system. You may have even called a security company to see what they offer and get a few prices for comparison. If this describes your situation at your business or in your home, it’s time to look at the problem solver – a hybrid DVR. There is another situation where you might want to think about using this hybrid component just for the purpose of saving money in an era where every dollar counts. For highly sensitive areas that are most likely to invite thieves - such as dark corners in the stock room, windows that are hard to see from the street, areas behind your shop or coolers in your eatery as well as front door and register areas – you should upgrade to a modern camera system because of the quality of the picture even in low light. But, for areas such as the well-lit aisles of the store blocked from the checkers’ view because of displays or parking areas that have good lighting, an analog camera is just fine and can save you a lot. Another place that using analog cameras is more cost effective is at your residence. Placing these cameras near windows, front rooms and children’s rooms as a complement to higher pixelated cameras and security alarms, can save you as much as 2,000 $AUD a year and you still have the remote access ability you really need. Not only does this type of DVR allow you to continue using your old security cameras, it allows you to add the modern IP cameras or HD-SDI digital cameras to the same system. In other words, it reads all types of current recordings – whether on film [sometimes called analog cameras], IP digital to be transmitted over broadband or HD-SDI digital designed especially for wireless transmissions. If you are unfamiliar with the term hybrid DVR and wonder what it is and whether or not you should consider it over other components, the answer is quite simple. If you installed a security camera 10-years ago and it records everything on film that has to be erased after a certain period, you will want to purchase one of the hybrid recorders in order to have the benefits of live-streaming video on your mobile devices.
