You’re sitting around in your home one day, and all of a sudden it hits you. The place is looking a little tired. The walls aren’t as bright as they used to be, the blinds went out of date years ago, and the furniture? Well, let’s be kind and say it looks a little shop worn. So, you purposely go from room-to-room, making a mental list of what you want to do to freshen up the place. Only problem is, by the time you get to the third room, you’re exhausted. It’s all a little bit overwhelming. Redecorating suddenly seems like a massive project, instead of a fun lark. Maybe it’s time to bring in the professionals? Well, let’s not be too hasty. Let’s take a look at some of the many things you can do to redecorate that are easy, fun, and inexpensive. Yes, you can do it yourself! Start with the Windows. After all, that’s your view of the world, so it seems like an excellent place to begin your interior decorating. A new window treatment can make all the difference in how a room is perceived. Why? Because when entering a room our eyes unconsciously fix on the windows as a focal point. So, how about redoing them with a new set of blinds? You might want to consider roller blinds. You know, the ones you pull up and down with a sash. They come in many different shapes and configurations, and there’s certainly one to fit both your budget and your décor. They are easy to install, and add a classy touch to any room. Furniture Spacing. This is an easy one most people overlook. Cramming a lot of furniture into a room of any size doesn’t make it feel cozier, it makes it feel claustrophobic and messy. Determine what furniture you really need in the room you’re redecorating, then take a look at all the rest. Do you really need that extra chair no one sits in? Or, how about that table in the corner that doesn’t really serve any purpose. Get rid of the excess, and give yourself room to breathe. Flower Power! Get some colorful vases, and fill them with glorious, brilliant flowers. Nothing perks up a room like flowers. They not only change the room’s landscape, but its aura as well. Bright flowers and vases simply make us feel good. They bring the room alive, whether it be the living room, the kitchen, or even the bath.
Add some Contrast and Variety to Fabrics. Have plain or solid colored chairs or couches? Make them pop by adding boldly designed and colorful throw pillows. This will add depth and dimension to any room. Experiment with different fabrics as well. You’ll fund the contrast appealing, and it adds a fun element to the room. Turn Small into Big. How do you make a small room appear bigger? Here’s a simple trick most interior decorators know: replace regular tables with transparent or glass tables. The transparency makes the entire room look bigger and uncluttered; adding simple, but classic lines. Look for both Style and Function. Take a lamp, for example. Most of the time it won’t be on, but what does it look like when it’s off? Select a lamp that suits the room it’s going to be in, in terms of style and function. This adds attractiveness to the room when it’s either on, or not. Paint those Walls! Nothing makes a room feel brighter or more welcoming than freshly painted walls. And the colours available total can virtually match any scheme you have in mind. Then, try a different shade for the woodwork. For example, a colour wall stands out strikingly when combined with white woodwork. The contrast is stunning! Let your Imagination run Wild. Whether you’re contemplating new blinds, or a whole new color scheme for the rooms you want to redecorate, let your imagination be your guide. Think fun, crazy thoughts! There are no rules when it comes to redecorating, it’s basically a personal choice. The point is, you’re the one who has to live with it, so why not redecorate it the way you want? Now, isn’t that the best tip of all?
